The reigning Queen of black & white glamour is one of my biggest fashion heroines. I first saw the amazingly talented Janelle Monae in a video on my Facebook timeline in about 2010 when I immediately became hooked! A beautiful young Black woman with a soulful voice like Lauryn Hill had a baby with Michael Jackson & James Brown was naturally The Godfather! Monae's multi-faceted talents are leading her in a phenomenal direction with her career, as she recently co-starred in Hidden Figures, the historical reenactment of the essential roles Black women played in the success of NASA. On top of all that, Janelle's fashion sense & natural hair give the official statement "Black Girls Rock" a gigantic, notarized stamp of approval. I love her as an Artist, Vocalist, Fashionista, Hair Crush, Actress & extraordinary example of what a Black woman can aspire to be. Salute.
