South Florida demonstrated it's cultural diversity through the recent display of African Diasporal beauty last weekend in the city of North Miami. The Miss African Roots USA Cultural Pageant proved to me that seeds of solidarity are being planted across cultural lines and for Miami I must say that I'm impressed by the grand effort! {~though I'm completely homesick for some good ol' Brooklyn/Queens cultural activities like NOW!!!......a single tear literally just dropped~}
There were beauties from Haiti, Angola, Bahamas, Trinidad, Togo & of course my favorite island on the globe JAMAICA!!! {~gunshots fiyah buh buh, place loud obnoxious siren sounds here please and cue neon dancehall lighting!~} The honorable contestants showcased talent, fashion, eloquence & beauty coupled with their strong sense of cultural pride & identitiy. Though all were breathtakingly gorgeous there could only be one winner.....CONGRATULATIONS to Rachel Louissaint reppin' for Haiti!
